RTX 4060 Competitor MTT S90 Nears Top in Benchmarks
China-based graphics card manufacturer Moore Threads has made a strong entrance into the gaming hardware scene. According to new test results, the company’s MTT S90 performed head-to-head with NVIDIA’s popular RTX 4060 in both synthetic and gaming tests. This success stems not only from hardware power but also from significantly improved drivers.
Is the MTT S90 Really a Competitor to the RTX 4060?
It’s been common knowledge that Chinese manufacturers haven’t made the expected breakthroughs in gaming GPUs to date. However, the MTT S90 looks set to change this perception. Tests conducted with the MTT S4000, which uses the same architecture, demonstrate the S90’s potential. In tests conducted at 4K Ultra settings in Naraka: Bladepoint, a popular game in China, the MTT S90 achieved an average of 43 FPS. In comparison, the RTX 4060 achieved 42 FPS at the same settings.
This close performance demonstrates that Moore Threads has made significant progress on the driver side. Considering that the previous model, the MTT S80, offered quite limited performance, the generational increase of up to 80% in the MTT S90 is quite remarkable.
While full hardware specifications haven’t yet been released, the MTT S90 is reportedly equipped with PCIe 5.0 support. This makes it one of the few GPUs on the market. It’s important to note that these tests haven’t been independently verified. However, the Chinese brand’s current performance could be a significant breakthrough for the industry.
It’s still a matter of interest how popular the MTT S90 will be upon its release and whether it will gain a foothold in the global market. However, being the first domestically produced Chinese GPU capable of competing with a powerful model like the RTX 4060 makes it a product to watch.
