[Rumor] AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D Release Window
AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D release window might be late October or early November 2024, according to a recently revealed rumor.
AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D Release Window
The Ryzen 7 9800X3D is the rumored successor to the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, which originally debuted back in April 2023. The X3D in its moniker is a reference to AMD’s 3D V-Cache technology, which stacks extra cache memory directly on top of a CPU. Adding more ultra fast storage to a processor configuration benefits a wide variety of applications and is particularly useful for multitasking, in addition to potentially improving gaming performance.
While the new AMD CPUs have already been teased, the timing of their announcement remains unclear. But if a newly emerged rumor shared by a purported Chinese insider via the Chiphell boards is to be believed, the lineup is likely to be revealed in a matter of weeks, if not days, not least because the Ryzen 7 9800X3D is supposedly planned to be released between late October and early November 2024.
This information is said to originate from a briefing at a recent press conference held by Taiwanese hardware manufacturer Gigabyte Technology. According to recent reports, AMD’s next X3D line refresh will include two more models, the Ryzen 9 9900X3D and Ryzen 9 9950X3D. But this latest wave of rumors suggests that neither of these will hit the market alongside the Ryzen 7 9800X3D.
The upcoming processor trio is expected to be based on AMD’s Zen 5 microarchitecture, which supports more instructions per cycle, higher clock speeds, and better power efficiency compared to its predecessor. According to the recent Chiphell rumors, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D will not allow overclocking. The X3D processors are somewhat more voltage-sensitive than the typical CPU, so the Ryzen 7 9800X3D’s lack of overclocking support could be a reflection of this characteristic. Be that as it may, the higher-end Ryzen 9 9900X3D and 9950X3D are both expected to allow overclocking.
The specifications of the new X3D processors are currently unclear. But given the product lines that they are set to extend, all three will presumably be compelling options for powering high end gaming PCs.
