Sam Raimi’s Send Help Trailer Released
20th Century Studios has released the first trailer and poster for Send Help, the new film from legendary director Sam Raimi, known for his Spider-Man and Evil Dead franchises. This film, which returns Raimi to pure horror after Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, combines dark humor and psychological thriller elements. The film stars Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien.
Send Help Turns the Struggle for Survival Upside Down
The film follows Linda Liddle (McAdams) and Bradley Preston (O’Brien), two colleagues who survive a plane crash while on a business trip, as they struggle to survive on a deserted island. However, the story promises to be much more than a classic survival story. Their past anger, rivalry, and hidden hatreds give way to a dangerous psychological warfare.
“The script is both crazy and incredibly human. The balance of power between these two characters is constantly shifting, and that really struck me,” Sam Raimi said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. The director emphasized that the film’s underlying themes are “female power, transformation, and respect.” “It’s a very satisfying story about a formerly powerful man becoming dependent on a woman he despises,” he added.
The trailer shows tensions on the island rapidly escalating, and Linda’s character becoming increasingly darker. Raimi’s signature grotesque humor and unsettling atmosphere signal Send Help’s departure from classic survival films. The final scenes, in particular, are striking, as McAdams’s character becomes reminiscent of Annie Wilkes in Stephen King’s Misery.
Send Help will be Sam Raimi’s first major horror project, co-directed with producer Zainab Azizi. The script was written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, the writers of Baywatch and Freddy vs. Jason. The film, which will be released on January 30, 2026, looks set to offer a horror experience that is both familiar and shocking for Raimi fans.
