Silent Hill f Will be Action Focused Game
It’s been revealed that Silent Hill f will feature more action-oriented gameplay and mostly contain melee combat.

This week, Silent Hill f’s release date was finally revealed during the June 2025 PlayStation State of Play presentation, with the terrifying title coming to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on September 25. A new trailer for the game highlighted new characters and enemies, along with a new weapon and a glimpse at the different areas players will explore in the town of Ebisugaoka. Fan interest in the game has remained strong since the first details surfaced, but some new information has come to light that may be somewhat disappointing to a certain subset of Silent Hill fans.
In a new PlayStation Blog post, producer Motoi Okamoto shared some more details about Silent Hill f’s gameplay, with some of this information coming as a surprise to the community. According to Okamoto, the game will feature challenging enemy encounters and will be more melee and action-oriented compared to 2024’s hit Silent Hill 2 remake. Many fans found that the Silent Hill 2 remake was already more focused on action than past entries in the franchise, and while some players enjoyed this aspect of the title, others prefer a more psychological and puzzle-focused experience. Thankfully, while “unique combat” is promised, puzzles will still remain a large part of the Silent Hill f experience, and will be “grounded in psychological anguish and suffering,” Okamoto said.
While the game will be the eighth mainline title in the series, the upcoming Silent Hill f is a standalone game and is not connected to any other game in the franchise, though fans may find some nods to past entries as they explore. Players will take on the role of high school student Shimizu Hinako, who must explore her hometown of Ebisugaoka as it is overtaken by a strange fog. Decision-making will play a role in Silent Hill f, with Shimizu either choosing to embrace beauty or madness as she fights back against the horrors taking over her town.
