Silver Pines Announced with Its Dark and Mysterious Story

The horror genre returns, this time with a classic Metroidvania twist. Publisher Team17 and developer Wych Elm have officially announced Silver Pines, a new game distinguished by its mysterious story and gloomy atmosphere. Developed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC, the game will be released in 2026.

Silver Pines Will Blend Classic Horror and Metroidvania Styles

In Silver Pines, players will embark on the story of private detective Red Walker. Walker arrives in the mysterious town of Silver Pines to find missing musician Eddie Velvet. However, upon entering, he is caught in a chain of events that veers between dream and nightmare. This abandoned town, bearing traces of the past in every corner, will test the limits of both Walker and the player.

The game combines classic survival horror dynamics with a modern Metroidvania structure. Players will have to carefully manage their resources while confronting or hiding from nightmarish creatures in the dark streets. Each puzzle solved will bring Walker one step closer to the town’s dark past. The development team describes the game’s atmosphere as “a terrifying yet emotionally charged discovery experience.”

Silver Pines stands out with its Twin Peaks-inspired bleak atmosphere, dark hand-drawn art, and detailed environmental design. Each new ability will give players access to different areas of the town, exploring secret passages, locked doors, and dark tunnels. This will create a unique structure that blends classic Metroidvania elements with horror elements.

Among the game’s announced features are new weapon types, collectible items, special potions, and books that influence character development. Team17 also confirmed that the story will have multiple endings, meaning players can unravel the mystery of Silver Pines in different ways based on their choices.

Silver Pines, set to launch in 2026, is aimed at both those longing for the atmosphere of classic horror games and those seeking a next-generation Metroidvania experience. The developer has released the game’s first trailer—and it looks like anyone who steps foot in this town won’t want to leave.
