Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Details Leaked
Although not many details have been shared about Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, the new Sonic racing game announced by Sega at The Game Awards, some interesting information has been leaked to the internet. While fans are waiting for more information about the game, which was introduced with a short cinematic trailer where Shadow jumps into a race car, the leak shared by Sonic Stadium on X/Twitter gives clues about the content of the game.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Will Take Place in Different Dimensions
According to the metadata information on the Sega Asia website, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will allow players to “race across land, sea, air, space and time” and “drift between dimensions”. Although this information has not been officially confirmed, considering the “CrossWorlds” expression in the game’s name, it is thought that there may be a connection between the Sonic games and the movies.
The leaked details indicate that the content of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds can build a bridge between the Sonic games and the movies. It wouldn’t be a surprise if the game features racers from locations like Green Hills, Montana, or characters from the movie version, like Sonic and Tom Wachowski. But we’ll have to wait for official announcements to see if all of this will happen.
Another interesting detail in the metadata leak is related to gameplay. Accordingly, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds may bring back the vehicle transformation mechanics from Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, which was released in 2012 and received positive reviews. In this game, racing vehicles could transform into boats and planes, but this feature was not included in Team Sonic Racing. The leak indicates that this mechanic may return.
There has been no official statement yet about when Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will be released. Even the trailer does not provide any information about the game’s release date or year. Considering that Sonic x Shadow Generations was released in October and Sega’s tendency to release Sonic games during the holiday season in recent years, the new game may have to wait until late 2025.
