Sony and People Can Fly Agree on New Prototype
Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that it has partnered with Poland-based game studio People Can Fly to develop a new game prototype. The deal, which will be carried out with a “work-for-hire” model, will focus on an intellectual property (IP) of Sony. The project is codenamed “Project Delta,” but the IP it is working on has not yet been disclosed.
Sony and People Can Fly Partnership
People Can Fly is known as a studio with joint development experience on projects such as Gears of War: E-Day. However, the studio’s recent difficulties are notable. In April 2024, Project Dagger, which they have been working on for a long time, was canceled and 120 employees were recently laid off. This new deal is considered a step that could strengthen the studio’s position in the industry.
Sony is said to have made this partnership to test a new game idea using People Can Fly’s development skills. The project’s development process will progress according to the specified milestones. However, it is currently unclear exactly what stage this prototype is in and whether it will eventually turn into a game.
It has not yet been announced which Sony IP this prototype, codenamed “Project Delta,” is based on. Fans are speculating that it could be the return of old Sony brands such as Resistance or Killzone. However, since Sony has not made an official statement, these claims are only guesses for now.
Sony continues to expand its game portfolio with such partnerships. It aims to increase its diversity in the industry by investing in both AAA-level and prototype-stage projects. The agreement with People Can Fly stands out as part of this strategy. More information about the prototype development process is expected to be shared in the coming months. Fans are eagerly waiting to see which game brand Sony’s new venture will be based on.
