The Spaceballs universe, which gained a cult fan base with its original film from 1987, has been silent for a long time. However, a new rumor about Spaceballs 3 shows that Amazon MGM Studios is determined to revive the series. Spaceballs 3 is Allegedly Being Developed by Amazon

According to a social media post that emerged on July 6, 2025, Amazon MGM Studios has already started working on the Spaceballs 3 project. The post, which was made with the phrase “MGM is already developing a SPACEBALLS 3,” gave the first clues about the future of the series. Although there has been no official confirmation from Amazon yet, this claim has created hope among fans of the series.

In previous statements, Spaceballs 2 was planned to be released in 2027. Accordingly, the fact that the development process of Spaceballs 3 has already begun shows that the series can transform into a larger cinematic universe. The return of names from the original cast such as Bill Pullman and Rick Moranis has increased interest in the project, while new actors such as Keke Palmer and Lewis Pullman have also joined the cast. It is also stated that Mel Brooks will return as the character of Yogurt.

Josh Greenbaum will direct the new film. The script belongs to the trio of Benji Samit, Dan Hernandez and Josh Gad. Josh Gad will also be involved in the project as an actor and producer. The list of producers also includes well-known names such as Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, Jeb Brody and Mel Brooks.
