Spectre Divide Will Shut Down Due to Insufficient Revenue

Mitchell said that the development of Spectre Divide has been a big risk from the beginning, but the team is passionate about the project. Despite the promising start in the first week, it was stated that the game’s active player count and revenues were not enough to cover daily operating costs. The studio announced that although it considered many different options to keep the game alive, such as looking for a publisher, additional investment, and acquisition, these efforts were unsuccessful.

Mitchell said in a statement to the community: “This project was a passion project, created with the aim of bringing an innovative perspective to the genre and bringing friends together around unforgettable moments. Our team knew from the beginning that this would be a difficult journey, but we tried anyway.”

The studio announced that it will be taking some precautions to ensure that players are not victimized by the closure of the game. Purchases made since the start of season 1 will be refunded and new purchases will be disabled. Spectre Divide will be playable for the next 30 days, but will be completely offline at the end of this period.

Spectre Divide attracted attention with its two different body control mechanics, but was criticized for not taking enough creative risks and technical issues. The PC version of the game was released in 2024.
