Peter David has won the hearts of fans with the original characters he has added to comic books throughout his career. David, who created characters such as Miguel O’Hara (Spider-Man 2099), Maestro and Joe Fixit; has been a long-term writer on series such as Aquaman, Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, Incredible Hulk and X-Factor. He also wrote Star Trek novels and worked as a screenwriter on television projects such as Babylon 5 and Ben 10.
The author had been struggling with serious health problems in recent years. With the end of his Medicaid support, a charity campaign launched by his fans raised over $123,000. According to his wife Kathleen David, he was on a ventilator before his death and his treatment process continued in intensive care.
David’s interpretation of the Hulk greatly influenced the character’s reflections in comics and the cinematic universe. In an interview in 2020, he stated that associating the Hulk’s split personality theme with childhood traumas gave depth to the character. Emphasizing that gamma radiation only externalized internal conflicts, David highlighted the Hulk’s psychological aspects with this approach.
