Split Fiction Will Stay Away From Micro-Transactions
Hazelight Studios has once again announced that it will not include microtransactions in Split Fiction, one of the most anticipated games of 2025. The studio’s founder, Jose Fares, has clearly stated his stance on this issue, emphasizing that Hazelight will never include microtransactions in its games. Despite being published by EA, Split Fiction will be released with a completely player-friendly approach in this regard.
Player-Friendly Features in Split Fiction
Split Fiction, like Hazelight Studios’ previous productions, offers a completely cooperative experience. The game allows a player who purchases the game to invite a friend for free throughout the game, thanks to a feature called Friend’s Pass. This feature aims to make the game accessible to everyone.
The absence of microtransactions in the game is a striking detail. Jose Fares explained the philosophy behind this decision, saying, “Microtransactions are not our thing. We just want to make games.” Hazelight’s previous games, It Takes Two and A Way Out, similarly did not include microtransactions.
Electronic Arts, although generally known for microtransactions, seems to have changed this approach in its collaboration with Hazelight. Split Fiction’s exemption from this policy shows Hazelight’s determination to stick to its own gaming philosophy.
Split Fiction, which will be released on March 7, 2025 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, draws attention with both local and online co-op modes. The game is expected to invite players to an adventure full of surprises by bringing together both science fiction and fantasy elements. Hazelight Studios aims to solidify its unique place in the gaming world with this project.
