Split Fiction’s Cross-Play and Friend’s Pass Benefits Explained
Split Fiction is a new co-op game developed by EA and Hazelight Studios and will be released on March 6. The developers have shared new details about the game’s cross-play support and Friend’s Pass feature. With these features, players will be able to play with friends from different platforms or invite a friend who doesn’t own the game to play the entire game together.
Friend’s Pass and Cross-Play Details
In Split Fiction, the Friend’s Pass feature allows players to share the game with their friends. A person who owns the game can download the Friend’s Pass and invite their friend. This allows the invited friend to play the entire game without owning the game. Friend’s Pass is available on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms. However, players playing from different platforms must create an EA account.
Friend’s Pass also includes a free trial. If neither player owns the game, this trial allows them to play the first chapters of the game. Progress is made during the trial, and can be continued if one player purchases the full game.
Hazelight’s previous games, It Takes Two and A Way Out, required players to play from the same platform. However, Split Fiction removes this restriction and offers cross-play support, allowing PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S players to play together. Cross-play requires both players to have an EA account.
The developers stated that the cross-play and Friend’s Pass features are intended to make it easier for players to share the game and connect with more people. Split Fiction also offers split-screen support, aiming to provide an innovative co-op experience for modern platforms.
Split Fiction will be released on March 6, 2025 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Hazelight Studios has also created a Discord server for players to experience the game more comfortably, where players can match.
