Splitgate 2 Team Asks Players for Support
Splitgate 2, which had high expectations, made headlines with its June release, but controversial statements, design decisions, and missteps caused the game to rapidly decline. Quickly withdrawn to beta, the game became a major disappointment for players. Now, the 1047 Games team is urging the community to “give it another try” through social media, aiming to rebuild trust.
Splitgate 2 Seeks to Rebuild Trust
Splitgate 2’s demise began with controversial decisions made during its launch. Statements made on the Summer Game Fest stage, in particular, negatively impacted the game’s reception. CEO Ian Proulx’s hat reading “Make FPS Great Again” and subsequent statements sparked widespread backlash among the gaming community.
The backlash didn’t end there. Microtransaction pricing and controversial design decisions alienated the community within the game’s first week. Player numbers quickly declined, and 1047 Games was forced to withdraw the game and return it to beta. This step further tested fans’ patience.
The team’s subsequent social media posts attracted attention. The call to “give it another try” and the admission of mistakes demonstrated an effort to regain player trust. However, as can be seen in the comments, many players seem to have not forgotten what happened. The reactions reveal that giving the game a second chance will not be easy.
Despite its innovative mechanics, Splitgate 2 has not escaped the shadow of the problems it experienced at launch. A re-release date is currently unknown, and the studio must take new steps to regain player support. However, the community continues to remember the mistakes made, and this stands as the biggest obstacle to the game’s future.
