Star Citizen Launches Free-to-Play Event for New Players
Developer Cloud Imperium says the event provides the perfect opportunity to test new ships, brush up on space survival basics and prepare to explore new frontiers. Star Citizen‘s free-to-play event includes a special tutorial system to help players learn the basics of the game before embarking on a space adventure.
New Ships and Exciting Missions Await You in Star Citizen
After completing the new player experience with the starter ship, the Drake Cutter, players will be able to hire any of the available ships to fulfill a series of missions. These missions include bounty hunting, cargo transportation, mining and visiting the IAE fairgrounds. By completing missions, they will be able to earn in-game currency UEC, IAE clothing, and a set of armor and weapons to jump-start their new life in space.
The event also introduces new ships. These include the Terrapin Medic, which will be the savior of wounded explorers or soldiers, and new members of the F7C Mk II series, the F7C-R and F7C-S, known as the “Ghost”. Cloud Imperium emphasizes that there has never been a better time to fly in Star Citizen.
Star Citizen has been an incredible success through crowdfunding, raising more than $700 million in total funding. Cloud Imperium recently shared an extensive gameplay video of Squadron 42, the Star Citizen spin-off scheduled for release in 2026. The free-to-play event is a great opportunity for new players to join Star Citizen’s growing universe.
