Star Trek Actor Joins Spider-Man: Brand New Day Cast
As filming continues on the Marvel-Sony co-production Spider-Man: Brand New Day, a notable addition to the cast has been announced. Melanie Scrofano, known for her role as Captain Marie Batel in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, announced her involvement in the project via Instagram. The actress, whose character has not yet been announced, is the latest addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day Cast Strengthens
Tom Holland returns as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the production, helmed by Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton. Zendaya will reprise her role as Michelle “MJ” Jones-Watson, and Jacob Batalon will reprise his role as Ned Leeds. Alongside Scrofano, Sadie Sink from Stranger Things and Liza Colón-Zayas from The Bear will also appear in yet-to-be-disclosed roles.
Melanie Scrofano is known for her television performances in productions such as Wynonna Earp, Revival, and Letterkenny. Her film career has included roles in films such as Saw VI, RoboCop, Ready or Not, The Silencing, and The End of Sex. The actress, known for her diverse projects, is expected to keep her role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day under wraps until the film’s release.
The film will also feature Jon Bernthal returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Frank Castle/Punisher, and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk. Michael Mando will reprise his long-lost role as Mac Gargan/Scorpion, introduced in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released in the US on July 31, 2026, as part of Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Following the film, Avengers: Doomsday will meet the audience on December 18, 2026, and Avengers: Secret Wars will meet the audience on December 17, 2027.
