Steam Gives Away The Legendary Metro Game For Free
In honor of the 15th anniversary of the world-famous post-apocalyptic game series Metro, the revamped version of the first game in the series, Metro 2033 Redux, has begun to be distributed for free on Steam. Players will be able to permanently add this classic FPS experience developed by 4A Games to their libraries within a limited 48-hour campaign period. The same campaign is also valid on GOG and Xbox platforms. However, PlayStation users were excluded from this special opportunity.
Metro 2033 Redux Free for a Limited Time on Steam
The free offering of Metro 2033 Redux was announced with a short gameplay video from the series’ official X (Twitter) account. The original Metro 2033, which was first released in 2010, was re-released in 2014 as the “Redux” version with renewed graphics, more stable gameplay, and improved controls. The currently free version is this updated version. The campaign is only valid for 48 hours, so it’s best to be quick.
According to the developer 4A Games, this campaign is part of the series’ various events and discounts that will continue throughout the year. In addition to Metro 2033 Redux, other games in the series are also offered at significant discounts on Steam and GOG. There is no free distribution on the PlayStation side, but there are significant discounts for games in the series there as well.
Metro: Awakening, the latest installment of the Metro universe, was released last year and attracted attention with its virtual reality-focused structure. However, a new game that will continue the main story has not yet been announced. 4A Games’ Ukrainian studio Reburn confirmed that they are working on a new Metro game with series creator Dmitry Glukhovsky. However, no updates have been shared on this project in recent months.
If you still haven’t tried Metro 2033 Redux, this campaign is the perfect time. All you have to do is add the game to your Steam account; it will be yours indefinitely. It’s hard to find a more suitable opportunity to take the first step into the dark atmosphere and impressive narrative of the series. Don’t forget to enrich your library before the 48-hour period ends.
