Subnautica 2 Could Arrive This Year
Subnautica 2 has yet to receive an official release date, but a leaked playtest report suggests that the game could be coming this year. According to information shared by a user on Reddit, the sequel will retain the spirit of the first game while also drawing attention with its deep-sea horror moments and new mechanics.
Notable Details from the Subnautica 2 Playtest
Playtest details shared by Reddit user SN2Throwaway revealed that Subnautica 2 is in a highly polished state and could be ready for release this year. The user noted that the game initially sends the player into very deep waters for a short while. This detail seems like a nightmare for players who are afraid of the underwater world.
According to the test report, Subnautica 2 takes place on a new planet and includes PDA devices and interactive elements that reference the first game. The resource collection mechanics are based on dense ore deposits scattered on the seabed. This structure makes players’ material collection more organized.
Another notable innovation is that players can change their genes. Thanks to this feature, it makes sense for your character to start in the depths of the ocean at the beginning of the game. According to the Reddit user, a giant creature called Collector Leviathan is also located outside the test area and gives the player moments full of fear.
Although this information has not yet been officially confirmed, it is found quite realistic by the community. If these leaks are true, Subnautica 2 is preparing to offer a deeper and scarier experience by improving the mechanics of the first game. Time will tell whether the game will be released this year.
