Sucker Punch May Bring Back One of Its Classic Series

The success of Ghost of Yotei, which resonated heavily within the PlayStation world, has once again drawn attention to Sucker Punch Studios. The studio has hinted at a new project, and the return of veteran legends Sly Cooper and Infamous has excited fans. It appears Sucker Punch is seriously considering returning to its roots once again.

Sucker Punch Could Return to Sly Cooper or Infamous

Sucker Punch entered the industry with 1999’s Rocket: Robot on Wheels, but its true breakthrough came with 2001’s Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus. With three sequels to the series, the studio quickly became a key part of the PlayStation brand. The Infamous series, which followed, became the studio’s second major franchise, a superpower-themed open-world experience from 2009 to 2014.

Studio co-founder Brian Fleming said in an interview with VideoGamer, “Whatever our next step is—whether it’s a Ghost sequel or a return to Sly—it all depends on our focus and experimentation. We can only focus on one project at a time.” This statement has rekindled fan questions about whether Sly Cooper is returning.

Nate Fox, creative director of Ghost of Yotei, hinted at a second possibility, saying, “I’d love to work on Infamous again someday.” This suggests the studio’s future remains open, and that two legendary franchises have the potential to make a comeback.

In recent years, Sucker Punch has become one of the most reliable and consistent studios in the PlayStation ecosystem. It’s known for avoiding scandals, focusing on quality, and raising the bar with each new project. Post-Ghost of Yotei, the studio is now preparing to turn a new page.

Given all these developments, Sucker Punch’s next step is crucial in terms of both nostalgia and innovation. Whether it’s the return of legendary thief Sly Cooper or the superpowered Infamous universe, the studio’s next project is already shaping up to be one of the most anticipated announcements in the gaming world.
