Milestone from Summer Game Fest 2025
Summer Game Fest has been around since 2020, started by Geoff Keighley of The Game Awards. SGF is streamed live in June every year. It gives devs and publishers a stage to show off new games, updates, trailers, and more. Whether it’s big AAA studios or smaller indie teams, everyone gets some spotlight. The show also throws in developer chats and live music, making it the go-to place for summer gaming announcements.
The 2025 Summer Game Fest edition kicked off on June 6 and streamed live on both YouTube and Twitch. It drew a massive worldwide audience and ended up being the biggest Summer Game Fest yet. Hosted by Keighley, the show broke all previous viewership records. Keighley confirmed on social media that this was the most-watched SGF ever. According to StreamsCharts, the stream pulled in over 50 million views, peaking at more than 3 million concurrent viewers. Compared to last year, that’s an 89% increase overall. YouTube views were up over 40%, and Twitch also saw a 38% boost – clear signs that the event’s popularity is still rising fast.
With numbers like these, SGF 2025 has officially locked in its spot as one of the most important and widely watched events in gaming. Some of the biggest games at the show included Resident Evil Requiem, Jurassic World Evolution 3, and Chronicles: Medieval. Resident Evil Requiem easily stole the spotlight, teasing a new storyline with a fresh set of characters and a release date locked in for February 27, 2026. Jurassic World Evolution 3 followed with a look at its expanded park sim features, and it’s dropping on October 21, 2025. Meanwhile, Chronicles: Medieval showed off a cinematic trailer narrated by Tom Hardy and gave a first taste of its mix of third-person action and strategy.
