Supergirl Surprise in the New Superman Movie

With the restructuring of the DC Cinematic Universe, all eyes were on both Superman and the upcoming Supergirl film. It had previously been announced that Supergirl, played by Milly Alcock, would appear in the Superman film. The film has finally been released, revealing this highly anticipated surprise scene.

How Did Supergirl Appear in the Superman Film?

In the final scene of Superman, as the Fortress of Solitude is being rebuilt after Lex Luthor’s defeat, a crash is suddenly heard from another room. Robot 4, Gary, announces, “Your cousin’s back,” signaling the arrival of a familiar face. Then, a drunk and disheveled Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl, steps out into the hallway and asks, “Where’s my dog?” Krypto then leaps at Kara, affectionately attacking her.

This scene isn’t just a funny moment; it also clarifies some details. Superman’s refusal to refer to Krypto solely as “dog” throughout the film now makes sense, as Krypto isn’t actually his dog, but Kara’s. Kara’s failure to train him explains Krypto’s scatterbrained and disobedient demeanor.

Kara’s drunken state confirms her ability to drink on planets with red suns. This detail is a direct reference to the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comics. This brief scene in Superman clearly demonstrates that Kara’s own film will be based on this adventure.

While Superman isn’t concerned about Kara’s habits, Gary hints that he is. Kara’s disparaging remarks about Clark, calling the film a “bitch,” reflect her immaturity. This prelude lays the groundwork for a story focused on the character’s personal development for next year’s Supergirl film.
