Swords of Legends Announced
Swords of Legends, the new installment in the Gujian series, has finally been officially announced. Publisher Wangyuan Shengtang and developer Aurogon Shanghai announced that the Unreal Engine 5-based game will be released for consoles and PC. The game, which will transport players to a magical world inspired by Chinese literature and mythology, is poised to further expand the series’ universe. While a release date hasn’t been confirmed yet, the announcement has sparked considerable curiosity among fans of the series and newcomers alike.
New Features in Swords of Legends
Swords of Legends was announced in 2021 as Gujian 4, but with changes, it has been reshaped as the official sequel. A single-player action RPG, the game stands out with its expansive cinematic narrative, side quests, and exploration-focused structure. The developer emphasizes that the game is a fully premium experience and doesn’t rely on a live service model. This is welcome news for players expecting a story-driven RPG.
The game’s story centers on an “Underworld Enforcer,” a character who straddles the line between the living and the dead. This character will guide lost souls, attempting to resolve the regrets that have kept them in this world. Mythological figures like Ox-Head and Horse-Face, who accompany the story, will also join the players’ journey.
The combat system is designed to be fun and flexible, rather than challenging. Players can capture the souls of certain enemies and summon them as allies in battle. This will create both tactical variety and visually impressive combos. This feature stands out as one of the game’s most striking innovations.
Regarding development, the project was in the research phase in 2021. However, thanks to investments received in 2024, the team expanded, and the game entered full production. Leveraging the power of Unreal Engine 5, Swords of Legends aims to take a major step forward in visual appeal. With the release of the first trailer, the development team also aims to introduce new capabilities to the project.
