The James Bond franchise, reshaped by Amazon MGM, is preparing for a new era after Daniel Craig’s 2021 farewell film. While it’s not yet clear who the new 007 will be, all eyes are already on potential Bond Girl candidates. Euphoria and Madame Web star Sydney Sweeney is at the center of these rumors.
Sweeney Gives Surprising Response to James Bond Rumors
Speaking to Variety, Sweeney gave a striking response to a question about the Bond rumors surrounding her. “I don’t know… I really don’t. To be honest, I’m not aware of all these Bond rumors, but I’m a huge fan of the series. I can’t wait to see what they do,” the actor said. After a brief silence, he added with a laugh, “It would depend on the script. But I think I’d rather be James Bond.”
While Sweeney’s response didn’t confirm the rumors, it further piqued fans’ curiosity. It wouldn’t be surprising if Amazon, in particular, wanted to see the star in the new Bond film. Sweeney, who attended the wedding of company founder Jeff Bezos, and his existing business connections with Amazon further support this theory.
The new Bond film will be directed by Dune director Denis Villeneuve, with a script by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight. Amy Pascal, known for her work in the Spider-Man series, and David Heyman, producer of the Harry Potter films, will produce. According to the duo, the new film “will usher in a new era while preserving the spirit of Bond.”
Sweeney has also recently been linked with new projects like The Housemaid and Christy. Given her rapid rise in Hollywood and her strong on-screen charisma, it wouldn’t surprise anyone to see her play a Bond Girl.
