System Shock 2 Remaster Delayed on Consoles

Console players who are still eagerly waiting for System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster may be in for a bit of a disappointment. Developer Nightdive Studios announced that it has postponed the release on PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch platforms by a few weeks. The studio stated that they are focusing on fixing some technical issues.

System Shock 2 Remaster Console Release Moved to July

Nightdive announced on social media that the game will not be ready for the PlayStation 5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch versions on its planned release date of June 26. Although the details of the issues were not shared, the development team said they are working to resolve these issues as soon as possible. The new goal is to release the game in the first two weeks of July.

On the other hand, PC players will not be affected by this delay. It has been confirmed that the remaster will be released on Steam, GOG, Humble Store and Epic Games Store on June 26. Although Nightdive could not give a clear date for the console release, they stated that they will continue to inform players as updates are made.

System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster offers improvements in many visual elements such as character and weapon models, textures, cinematics and animations. It also comes with controller support, improvements in cooperative mode, achievements and quality improvements. In the PC version, 144 FPS support, ultra-widescreen compatibility and mod support stand out.

First released in 1999, System Shock 2 drags players into a science fiction nightmare set in the year 2114. In the game, which takes place on the ship called Von Braun, players who try to survive against the artificial intelligence SHODAN have to test their intelligence and reflexes in a world full of mutants and robots. The new version is reimagined to appeal to modern gamers while preserving nostalgia.
