Tango Gameworks Reopened and Hiring For New Games

After being shutdown and then resurrected in 2024, Tango Gameworks has officially reopened and is currently hiring for multiple positions as it works on an unannounced action game.

Tango Gameworks is Ressurected

For Tango Gameworks, 2024 was a rollercoaster of highs and lows. In May 2024, Tango, Arkane Austin, and two other Bethesda-owned studios were shut down, disappointing fans and industry workers, including the original co-founder of the studio, Shinji Mikami. Tango was hoping to create a sequel to Hi-Fi Rush, pitching an idea to them before Xbox executives decided to ultimately shut it down. However, there was a silver lining to this disappointment as Tango would be revived just a few months later.

In a surprising turn of events, Tango Gameworks was purchased by Krafton alongside the Hi-Fi Rush IP only a few months later. After Krafton laid out plans for the studio and some time was taken to set things up, the studio has officially reopened and is sporting a new look. The Tokyo-based company is utilizing a hybrid work enviornment with the in-person office now available for use by employees.

In addition to the studio reopening, the company also revealed its new logo and branding, to better emphasize its “creative workshop” philosophy and “hand made feel” to the games it makes. In fact, the post also went as far as to reveal the studio is hiring for multiple positions for an unannounced action game that uses the Unreal Engine and will be aiming to launch on current gen systems. Considering Krafton also purchased the Hi-Fi Rush IP, it’s not a stretch to imagine the studio could be working on a sequel for the fan favorite title.

On the other hand, Tango isn’t likely working on a new Ghostwire: Tokyo or Evil Within as ownership of those IPs remains with Microsoft. With that said, Microsoft is holding a special Xbox Games Showcase on June 8, so if there is a new announcement for either IP, it could be then. For now, The Outer Worlds 2 is confirmed to be a major-featured title, but fans are also expecting news surrounding Gears of War Reloaded and more.
