The First Space Marine 3 Script Was Much Darker
Fans of the Warhammer 40K series are excited about the next game, Space Marine 3, following the long-awaited success of Space Marine 2. However, the game’s original plotline went in a very different direction. Original game director Raphael van Lierop revealed that Space Marine 3 would initially feature a darker storyline, with Titus losing his loyalty to the Ultramarines and forming his own Chapter.
Expectations for Space Marine 3
Van Lierop stated in an interview that the series would initially follow a much darker storyline. According to initial plans, Space Marine 2 would take Titus on a darker path, which he described as “Titus Unleashed”, where his loyalty to the Adeptus Astartes would be tested. Titus would be ostracized from the Ultramarines, and this would be almost a death sentence for him: “In the second game, Titus’s loyalty would be tested and he would eventually be ostracized. But this would make him stronger. In Space Marine 3, he would establish his own Chapter and continue the war against Chaos.”
This story involved Titus moving away from the Adeptus Astartes and focusing on his own Chapter to cleanse the Chaos threat. This newly formed Chapter would be a new faction in the Warhammer universe.
Currently, Space Marine 3 is in development by Saber Interactive, and it is stated that the story will still focus on Titus’ struggle with Chaos. However, the original storyline suggests that the game could offer a much deeper and more personal narrative. In particular, the idea of creating a new Chapter led by Titus, like the Blood Ravens that Relic Entertainment previously created for Dawn of War, had exciting potential for fans.
Saber Interactive also plans to provide long-term content support for Space Marine 2. It was announced that a new Horde Mode will be added to the game, and that this mode will offer players an unconventional experience. It is also stated that Space Marine 3 will focus on larger-scale battles with larger threats such as the awakening of the Necron forces.
While it is unknown whether Titus will take a darker path, Space Marine 3 is expected to solidify his place in the Warhammer 40K universe. Players are eagerly awaiting more details on this new story and content.
