The First Trailer for the Movie Mercy Has Arrived
Amazon MGM Studios has released the first trailer for its new sci-fi thriller, Mercy. Starring Chris Pratt and Rebecca Ferguson, the film tells the story of a dystopian future where artificial intelligence has taken over as judge. Directed by Timur Bekmambetov, the film invites viewers into a dark tale that questions the concepts of justice, crime, and humanity.
Mercy Tells the Story of a Detective Judged by Artificial Intelligence
The trailer depicts a near-future world. An advanced artificial intelligence system that evaluates human crimes has become the new “ruler” of society. Chris Pratt, the detective, is suddenly targeted by this system when he is accused of murdering his wife. Ironically, he is also one of the team that developed this system.
The detective only has 90 minutes—if he doesn’t prove his innocence, he will be executed by the AI. Rebecca Ferguson’s A.I. Judge adds tension and philosophical depth to the story with her calm decisions. The trailer highlights the fast-paced scenes and neon-toned future atmosphere.
The film is directed by Timur Bekmambetov, known for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. The screenplay is by Marco van Belle. The production also stars Annabelle Wallis, Kali Reis, Rafi Gavron, Chris Sullivan, Kenneth Choi, and Kylie Rogers. Charles Roven and Robert Amidon are producing, while Mark Moran and Todd Williams are executive producers.
Mercy stands out as a film that questions the limits of justice and the ethical power of artificial intelligence. The film, which will be released on January 23, 2026, is poised to be one of the most remarkable science fiction thrillers of the year with the slogan “You have 90 minutes to prove your innocence, or you will be executed.”
