The Last of Us 2 Remastered PC Player Count Revealed
The Last of Us 2 Remastered is released for Steam players, and the initial player count after launch has been revealed.
The Last of Us 2 Remastered PC Player Count
The Last of Us Part 2 was first released in 2020 to critical acclaim, despite its dark narrative turn being controversial in the gaming community, and went on to win Game of the Year. Unfortunately, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered’s update 2.0.0 is erasing Ellie and Abby’s skills for some players, which is a frustrating bug considering the patch was intended to boost the PC port with new content.
After its April 3 release date, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered’s PC port has achieved a peak concurrent player count of 30,690 during its opening weekend on the market. Compared to the first game’s release statistics, Part 2 Remastered failed to beat The Last of Us Part 1’s 36,500 player count. Joining the PC port’s release, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered also received new content for No Return mode. Four new maps were added to gameplay, including Overlook, School, Streets, and Nest, and Bill and Marlene became playable characters with unique skills and weapons. PlayStation 5 users received the new No Return content as well via a free patch released in tandem with the PC launch.
Despite The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered offering stellar PC features at launch, the sequel also placed fairly low down in Sony’s top 10 popular PC releases, barely beating Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s peak player count. The sequel also came below God of War Ragnarok, Horizon Zero Dawn, and chart-toppers Helldivers 2 and Ghost of Tsushima.
For players looking to return to post-apocalyptic America to follow Ellie and Abby’s painstaking story of grief and revenge with even better graphics, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered packs a punch with certain PC specs. Choosing quality over balance in the Upscale Quality option is best without affecting FPS, and cranking Level of Detail, Texture Quality, and Depth of Field Quality up to High increases the game visually without affecting performance. Despite the PC port’s poor optimization currently, players are hopeful the issue will be ironed out in upcoming patches.
