The Long-awaited DLC for Silent Hill 2 Remake Won’t Happen

The cult horror game series Silent Hill is once again in the news, but this time with a development that will upset fans. Long-standing rumors of a “Born From a Wish” DLC for Silent Hill 2 Remake appear to be unfounded. Salóme Gunnarsdóttir, who voices Mary and Maria in the game, officially announced during a livestream that no such content is being developed.

Silent Hill 2 Remake Voice Cast Issues Statement

Speaking during her Silent Hill 2 stream on Twitch, Gunnarsdóttir said, “I won’t be making any announcements about Born From a Wish because there really isn’t one.” The actress stated that she had contacted the game’s developer, Bloober Team, and its publisher, Konami, saying, “I’ve asked Bloober, but we haven’t recorded any audio for this content. I’m very sorry,” definitively putting an end to the rumors.

This statement also debunks DLC rumors that have been circulating online for months. Born From a Wish was an additional scenario included in the expanded version of the original Silent Hill 2, released in 2001, focusing on the story of the character Maria. Fans had hoped that this content would be reworked in the remake. However, according to Gunnarsdóttir, there are currently no such plans.

While the actor’s comments sparked disappointment in the community, the stream wasn’t all bad news. Gunnarsdóttir also shared some amusing details about the development process. For example, she revealed that she did the motion capture (mocap) performance of the Lying Figure creature in the game, adding, “I was rolling around on the floor in that scene, and then they made it even scarier in post-production,” to a laugh.

While hopes for “Born From a Wish” may be dashed for now, Gunnarsdóttir’s candid remarks offered Silent Hill fans a rare behind-the-scenes glimpse. Following the remake’s success, it remains a mystery whether Konami will revisit this iconic side story in the future.
