The Mystery of Clark Kent’s Glasses Solved
Superman’s ability to protect Metropolis while hiding his identity with just a pair of glasses has been one of the most controversial issues in comic book history. James Gunn, the head of the new DC Universe, did not remain indifferent to this question. Speaking to Rolling Stone, Gunn confirmed that he will explain why Clark Kent’s glasses work in a “canonical” way in the film. According to Gunn, this detail will play an important role in the course of the story and will be handled in a way that will make viewers smile.
How Will the Glasses Secret Be Explained in the Superman Movie?
James Gunn said that the glasses issue will be in the film and that even Lois Lane will make a statement about it. Gunn also stated that he was inspired by classic comic book theories such as “super-hypnotism” behind Superman’s secret identity. Stating that they discussed this issue at length with DC Comics writer Tom King, Gunn said that he wanted to base every detail on a logical basis.
There is also a strong possibility that the glasses could be connected to Kryptonian technology. In the latest comics, it was explained that Clark Kent’s glasses were made of special glass used on the ship he came to Earth on. Gunn may also bring this detail to the film. In addition, David Corenswet’s changing of his hairstyle and stance in the Clark Kent scenes will be a subtle nod to the Christopher Reeve era.
The new Superman film will bring a humane story along with epic action. David Corenswet will appear as Superman/Clark Kent, while Rachel Brosnahan will portray Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult will portray Lex Luthor. The film also stars Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Nathan Fillion and Isabela Merced.
The Superman film, which will start the new era of DC Studios, will be released on July 11, 2025. The explanation that James Gunn will bring to the secret of his glasses is already intriguing both old and new fans.
