The Name That Will Play E. Honda in Street Fighter Has Been Announced
The cast of the highly anticipated live-action Street Fighter film continues to expand. The actor who will portray E. Honda, one of the series’ iconic characters, has finally been revealed. E. Honda, one of the most recognizable figures in fighting games, is being brought to the big screen this time by a legend from the Japanese wrestling scene.
A Surprise Cast for E. Honda
Hirooki Goto, a veteran of New Japan Pro-Wrestling, has been added to the cast of the new Street Fighter film. According to a report by Sean Ross Sapp, Goto will portray E. Honda in the film. Goto, who has been wrestling professionally since 2003 and has won numerous championships in Japan, makes him a perfect fit for the role of E. Honda.
E Honda is known as one of the original eight characters in Street Fighter II and has appeared in every major installment of the series. Peter “Navy” Tuiasosopo played the character in the first live-action film, released in 1994. This time, Goto’s wrestling background, along with his acting, seems to add a unique dynamic to the character.
The film’s cast is also noteworthy. Stars such as Andrew Koji (Ryu), Callina Liang (Chun-Li), Noah Centineo (Ken), Jason Momoa (Blanka), Roman Reigns (Akuma), Orville Peck (Vega), Andrew Schulz (Dan Hibiki), and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson (Balrog) are all attached to the project. It was previously announced that WWE star Cody Rhodes will be cast as Guile.
The production, developed in partnership with Legendary Entertainment and Capcom, will begin filming in Australia in August. An official release date hasn’t been announced yet, but the Street Fighter film, which has already generated great curiosity with its cast, could be an exciting rebirth for fans.
