Nintendo’s decision was prompted by a complete lack of parts. The company officially said goodbye to players, “Repairs are no longer possible due to the unavailability of necessary parts.” This message underscores the fact that devices in the hands of millions of users will now be protected solely by their personal value.

Today, the 2DS XL may still function, but without official assurance, it’s at risk. Players will continue to hold on to this console, which holds nostalgic value. Thus, a device that left its mark on portable gaming history has officially passed away.
