The Sinking City Remastered is Released
Known for its mysterious atmosphere and Lovecraft-inspired story, The Sinking City is back on stage with its Remastered version. First released in 2019 with Unreal Engine 4, the game has been ported to Unreal Engine 5 in its new version. With this change, the visuals have been greatly improved, while some gameplay conveniences have been added. Developer Frogwares announced that the new version is completely free for existing users.
What Does The Sinking City Remastered Offer?
Production studio Frogwares announced that they have bigger plans for The Sinking City brand after the Remastered version. Publishing director Sergiy Oganesyan said, “It feels great to take such a positive step after this difficult past. We wanted to thank our existing players with this free version.” The statement is also considered an official confirmation of the development process of The Sinking City 2.
The new version includes a UE5 re-lighting of the game’s entire map. City textures have been upgraded to 4K resolution and reflections have been improved. Upscaling technologies such as DLSS, FSR and TSR are also supported. With the improved level of detail, the city now looks much more realistic and dense.
A Photo Mode has also been added to the game with the Remastered version. Thanks to this, players will be able to capture the gloomy atmosphere and interesting events of the city of Oakmont at any time. This feature stands out as a remarkable innovation for both content creators and players who want to enjoy the atmosphere.
The game is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC (Steam, GOG). Current The Sinking City owners can get this new version at no additional cost. The development team sees this update as a start and signals bigger projects for the future of the series.
