According to the statements made after Take-Two’s latest financial report, the release date of GTA 6 has been postponed to 2026. The company’s CEO Strauss Zelnick stated that there is actually a very clear justification for this process. He stated that as the game approaches the finish line, the need for more polishing emerges and that this small but important period is necessary for Rockstar to realize its vision without restrictions.

This decision was a development that directly affected Take-Two’s fiscal year targets. However, Zelnick emphasized that short-term losses could be sacrificed for long-term quality. He drew attention to the fact that strong productions such as Borderlands 4, Mafia: The Old Country and NBA 2K will come in the new fiscal year and stated that this process is progressing positively for the company. The CEO, who admitted that the delays were challenging, said that they fully supported the teams’ efforts to achieve perfection.

Zelnick had previously made a very optimistic statement in an interview in February that GTA 6 would be released in the fall of 2025. However, in a new statement that came three months later, it was announced that the game had been postponed to May 26, 2026. It was stated that this change was made in line with the needs that became clear as the game entered its final stages. The CEO added in his statement this time that they stood by the postponement decision and that when they give a clear date, they generally stick to it.

The second trailer of GTA 6 and the details that followed created great expectations for the game. There have even been speculations that Liberty City could be added to the map at or after the game’s launch.
