Tom Felton Plays an Iron Man-Like Hero in Altered
Tom Felton, remembered for his unforgettable role as Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter series, is taking on a completely different character this time around. In the new sci-fi film, Altered, the actor plays an inventor who fights evil with armor he himself built. The trailer, recently released, portrays Felton as an “alternate Tony Stark.”
Tom Felton Transforms into Hero with Science in Altered
The Altered trailer, released by Well Go USA, depicts a dystopian future where genetic modifications have become central to society. Felton plays Leon, an inventor confined to a wheelchair but whose genius allows him to survive. Leon creates devices that help “unmodified” people conceal their identities. However, when he crosses paths with a young girl, he finds himself in the midst of a much larger conflict.
Leon’s Iron Man-esque armor is one of the most striking details in the trailer. In the film, the character enters a restricted area and attempts to repair a client’s broken armor, and events spiral out of control. Following attacks targeting the innocent community, Leon decides to join forces with other “special” people to fight for justice. The trailer is filled with action-packed moments reminiscent of classic superhero scenes.
The film’s cast also includes Elizaveta Bugulova, Richard Brake, Aggy K. Adams, and Aleksey Filimonov. Timo Vuorensola, known for his work on the Iron Sky films, is in the director’s chair. Vuorensola describes Altered as “a world shaped by genetic experiments, set in an alternate history where the Cuban Missile Crisis escalated into nuclear war.”
Felton’s character, Leon’s armor, is strikingly similar to the design in the first Iron Man film. Several scenes in the trailer reference Tony Stark’s first armor in a cave. However, Altered focuses on a darker story, one that draws the origins of heroism not from superpowers, but from human intelligence and conscience.
Altered will be released in theaters and on digital platforms on November 21, 2025. That same month, Tom Felton will return to the Broadway stage as Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, greeting fans with two different projects.
