Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 Coming to Switch with Additional Terms
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 will be released on July 11, 2025 for the Nintendo Switch platform. However, the boxed version of the game includes a requirement that may disappoint some players. The cartridge included in the box does not contain the full game and requires an additional download.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 Download Requirement
According to leaked box art images, players who purchase a physical copy of the game will have to complete a mandatory download in order to play the game in its entirety. This has sparked controversy among players who prefer physical copies of the game. Although the size of the download is not yet clear, it is stated that full levels or a large portion of content may be missing.
Such requirements can be problematic, especially for players with limited internet connections. It also raises the possibility that some parts of the game will not be accessible if the servers are shut down in the future. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 previously released a similar download requirement, but this only applied to multiplayer content.
The game includes remastered versions of the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and 4 games, which were released in 2001 and 2002. In addition, a brand new map called “Waterpark” will be offered to players. The game is expected to appeal to a wide range of players thanks to its nostalgic structure combined with modern graphics.
The fact that not all physical games are included on cartridges raises concerns among players about the future of physical copies. While physical games are important to collectors, such download requirements can reduce the appeal of physical games. While players await more information from Activision, it is currently unclear whether this will be the case on other platforms.
