Ubisoft’s NFT Game Is Now Down to 10-Player F2P

Starting in 2021, Ubisoft invested heavily in pursuing the NFT trend. Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles, released in 2024, failed to gain traction despite its high-priced NFTs and was quickly abandoned. The company focused its efforts on its new release, Champions Tactics: Reforged, but the situation remained unchanged. As of today, the game has been reduced to a mere 10 concurrent players on Steam.

NFT Enthusiasm Led Grimoria Chronicles and Reforged to Their Demise

Ubisoft’s first NFT game, Grimoria Chronicles, quietly launched in 2024, but the game’s NFTs, worth up to $60,000, sparked widespread criticism. The roadmap stalled before 2025, and official social media accounts all but forgot about the game.

Ubisoft's NFT Game Is Now Down to 10-Player F2P

Reforged, announced in May, was touted as a “F2P strategy game.” However, according to SteamDB data, the game approached 1,500 players two months ago, but currently has only 8-10. Its “pay-to-win” gacha system, slow gameplay, and structure that bends NFT rules have drawn intense criticism from players.

NFT business hasn’t picked up at all either. Collections on OpenSea are practically non-existent, with most transactions under $10. The official Discord server is practically deserted. Ubisoft’s last update was in July 2025.

All of this demonstrates that Ubisoft’s insistence on NFTs has cost the company dearly. The company’s stock has lost 86% of its value since 2021 following NFT announcements. Players have viewed spending resources that could have been allocated to other projects on NFT trials as a grave mistake.
