Ubisoft’s Statement on Assassin’s Creed Shadows Crisis

Ubisoft’s new game Assassin’s Creed Shadows was planned to be released on March 20, 2025, but its physical copies were unexpectedly leaked and some players started playing the game. Moreover, gameplay footage shared on social media spread rapidly. Following this situation, Ubisoft stated that the game was not yet complete and that the leaked footage did not reflect the final version.

Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows Statement

Ubisoft made a statement regarding the leak, saying, “We noticed that Assassin’s Creed Shadows was accessed by some players before the planned release date. Our development team continues to work to perfect the experience until the game’s launch. The shared footage does not represent the final quality of the game.”

The publisher asked fans to be sensitive about leaks, saying, “Leaks are upsetting and can dampen players’ excitement. Please do not ruin the experience for others and do not share spoilers.”

It remains unclear how long physical copies of Assassin’s Creed Shadows were distributed or how they were leaked. The game’s early access could affect Ubisoft’s pre-launch plans, and leaked content could shape players’ expectations for the story or gameplay.

Ubisoft stated that they will make the most of the time until the game’s release during this process. However, the potential damage that early access leaks could cause could affect the game’s sales performance and overall perception. Assassin’s Creed Shadows will officially be released on March 20, 2025 for PlayStation 5 and other platforms. Ubisoft emphasizes that the game will reach players “in its best form.”
