Unhinged Announced with Chaotic Survival Experience
A new take on the survival genre is emerging. Unifiq Games has officially announced Unhinged, an open-world survival game about players trapped in a mysterious corporation’s experiment. The PC game will be available on Steam, and closed test registrations are already open.
Unhinged Will Offer a Mind-Breaking Survival Experience
Unhinged drops players onto a retro-futuristic island—but this is no ordinary island. Players awaken in the midst of a strange experiment run by a mysterious corporation and must both gather resources and maintain their sanity to survive. The game goes beyond traditional hunger and thirst systems, making the player’s mental balance a fundamental element of survival.
One of the game’s most striking features is the “Sanity System,” or sanity mechanic. Players attempt to maintain their psychological boundaries by controlling imbalances in their brain chemicals. The development team claims this will be the most complex sanity system ever seen in a survival game.
The game features a comprehensive crafting system. Players can prepare food with the ingredients they find, brew tea, or enhance their characters by synthesizing various chemicals. Each experiment can result in fatal errors or unlock extraordinary powers. This makes Unhinged unique in its balance of risk and reward.
Unhinged also offers players a free-flowing creative space with its modular machine-building mechanics. Players can build their own vehicles and bases, generate electricity, and automate processes with pipe and conveyor systems. This allows resource-gathering tasks to be self-paced, allowing players to focus on discovering the island’s dark secrets.
In special missions called “corporate trials,” scattered across different areas of the island, players attempt to unravel the truth behind the company’s strange experiments. These trials are designed as special stages that test each player’s strategic thinking and creativity.
Unhinged, which has yet to announce a release date, promises a unique experience by blending the modern survival genre with psychological horror and systematic construction mechanics. In this dystopian world, which simultaneously tests “intelligence, endurance, and sanity,” every decision seems to come with a price.
