Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodhunt Closes

Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodhunt, one of the most ambitious battle royale games of its time, is nearing its end. Developer Sharkmob announced that it will permanently shut down the game’s servers on April 28, 2026, due to a decline in player numbers. This will mark the final “death” of the bloody rivalry set in the World of Darkness universe.

Bloodhunt Shuts Down Forever in 2026

Released in 2022, Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodhunt brought a new dimension to the battle royale genre with its vampire mythology. Set on the streets of Prague, the game had players trying to survive in a deadly red fog unleashed by vampire hunters. However, in 2023, new content updates were halted and the game was placed in maintenance mode. Now, that maintenance period is coming to an end.

Sharkmob released a statement stating that player numbers had fallen below sustainable levels and that it was no longer possible to keep the game alive. The studio thanked the community for their support and stated that the project was being shut down “with pride but sadness.”

Bloodhunt attracted attention for its combination of the battle royale genre and the vampire theme. With its fast-paced movement mechanics, vertical battlefields, and dark atmosphere, the game offered an experience unlike any other in the genre. However, both the intensity of the competition and the waning interest in live-service games hampered the project’s longevity.

Nevertheless, Bloodhunt managed to outlast similar games like Concord and cultivated a loyal community. Players praise the game’s dark aesthetic and its elements from the Vampire: The Masquerade tabletop RPG.

By 2026, Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodhunt will be retired from the annals of history. Meanwhile, the mixed reviews of the other game in the series, Bloodlines 2, suggest this universe will remain silent for some time. Vampires are once again disappearing into the darkness.
