Virtua Fighter 6 Gameplay Trailer Released

Virtua Fighter, one of the pioneers of the fighting game world, is preparing to make a bold return to the arena after years of competition. With the new trailer released at EVO, Sega’s Virtua Fighter 6 has finally revealed real gameplay footage. While the visually stunning trailer has excited some players with its gameplay details, it has also left others wary.

Virtua Fighter 6: A Pure and Simple Fighting Experience

The new trailer shows Akira, the series’ iconic character, debuting in his new fighting outfit and facing off against a new fighter named Stella. Raising the bar in terms of visuals, the trailer stands out with its fluid animations and realistic transition effects. The slow-motion animations, particularly applied to missed attacks, enhance the combat experience.

Sega didn’t announce a release date or target platforms with the trailer. It’s known that the game is being developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and that new information will be shared at Tokyo Game Show 2025. Virtua Fighter 6 is seen as the series’ first major step forward since Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown, released in 2021.

Following the trailer, players shared mixed opinions. Some praised the game’s simple fighting system, while others called it “not innovative enough.” The system, which lacks combos, magic, and is based solely on combat, seems to have particularly pleased fans of classic Virtua Fighter.

Another notable innovation is the damage marks on the face of new character Stella after being hit. This detail suggests that the physical damage sustained by fighters throughout the game will be more visually apparent. This focus on realism could significantly differentiate Virtua Fighter 6 from other fighting games.
