Weforge Announces New Horror Game Macabre
Macabre, a game aimed at bringing a new twist to the horror genre, has been announced by Weforge Studio. The game’s early access release date has been hinted at, and players are already eagerly awaiting its release. Playable both solo and with friends, this game combines stealth and survival elements to offer players an ever-evolving experience. Among the features that make Macabre stand out are time rifts, dynamic maps, and enemy AI that learns from player tactics.
Macabre Coming to Early Access
Macabre will be available on Steam Early Access on September 29th. This game features procedural maps, co-op support for up to four players, solo play, and dynamic weather conditions. Guided by the mysterious character Banjo, players will gather resources while also attempting to escape the temporal rift before it closes. The biggest threat during this journey is the Crawler, a terrifying entity that learns and adapts with every step.
The game’s pre-launch impact is also remarkable. Wishlisted by over 250,000 players on Steam, Macabre was among the 50 most-played demos at the recent Steam Next Fest event. This success demonstrates that the game has reached a large audience even before its release. The studio’s goal is to further refine the game’s mechanics by gathering community feedback during the early access period.
Statements from the development team reveal that the project has undergone a lengthy preparation process. Game Director Jake Davey states that Macabre’s adaptive AI and high-stakes gameplay are designed to constantly provide players with new experiences. Creative Director Jay Topping emphasizes the meticulousness of this journey, citing over four years of development, prototypes, and the Kickstarter campaign.
New maps and enemies will be added to the game throughout the early access period. This means each run will present different challenges, and the story will evolve through Banjo’s missions. Macabre is poised to push the boundaries of the genre not only with its classic horror elements but also with its evolving structure.
