What Game Will the New Resident Evil Remake Be?

The Resident Evil series has remained in the news with remakes in recent years. Capcom began this process with Resident Evil 2 in 2019, continued with Resident Evil 3 in 2020, and Resident Evil 4 in 2023. Each remake has brought the series to a new generation of players while keeping the loyal fan base engaged. However, apart from Resident Evil Requiem, which is expected to be released in 2026, no official announcement has been made for a new remake. This naturally raises curiosity about the series’ next remake.

Resident Evil Zero Remake Rumors

Dusk Golem, known for its reliable leaks, has suggested that the next remake in the series will be Resident Evil Zero. According to Insider, this project should have been released long ago, but due to internal development issues, it was both delayed and essentially restarted. Furthermore, Zero’s development team has changed over the past year. While this may sound negative, it’s important to remember that previous remakes in the series have also been reshaped in a similar way.

What Game Will the New Resident Evil Remake Be?

As with RE2 and RE4, Capcom’s “reboot” approach sometimes enhances rather than diminishes the quality of a project. In fact, Resident Evil 4 Remake is known to have achieved success after a studio change. Therefore, there’s a high probability that Zero Remake will recover in a similar way. Players will have the opportunity to experience the series’ origin story with modern graphics and improved gameplay.

So, when will it be released? It appears that Capcom won’t be releasing another major Resident Evil game in the same year, as Resident Evil Requiem is scheduled for release in 2026. This suggests that Resident Evil Zero Remake could launch in 2027 at the earliest. While it could be released later, the volume of rumors suggests the game is indeed in development.

On the other hand, it seems those hoping for a remake for Resident Evil 5 will have to wait a bit longer. Given the series’ chronological progression, Capcom is likely to focus on games like Zero and then Code Veronica. So, the remake of the fifth game set in Africa will most likely be postponed until after these projects.
