According to reports, an Australian-based car import company shared footage of a member of the Forza Horizon team scanning Kei vehicles. These vehicles are known as the smallest class of vehicles, only suitable for highway use in Japan. Therefore, this detail was interpreted as a strong indication that the game will take place in Japan. Although the post was quickly deleted, it has already begun to spread widely within the community.

The Forza Horizon series has been set in various locations, including Colorado, Southern France, Northern Italy, Australia, the United Kingdom, and Mexico. Japan has been a highly sought-after destination for players for years. Known for its street racing culture and iconic drifting scenes, Japan is considered a perfect fit for the Forza Horizon universe.

Phil Spencer previously confirmed that Forza Horizon 6 will be released in 2026. Following the layoffs in the Forza Motorsport team, all eyes are now on the Horizon team. This increases the pressure to develop the game to meet expectations.
