Will Grounded 2 Come to PlayStation and Switch 2?

As Grounded 2 prepares to transport players back to a vast garden, it’s not just its new content but also the uncertainty surrounding its platform. Obsidian’s beloved survival game will launch initially on Xbox and PC, but the subsequent arrival of the first game on PlayStation and Nintendo Switch has generated similar anticipation for the second installment. While the development team hasn’t yet made any specific announcements, they’ve hinted at platforms like PlayStation and Switch 2. Especially after the powerful new hardware and the multi-platform success of the first game, Grounded 2 could reach a wider audience.

Could Grounded 2 Be Extended Beyond Xbox?

Obsidian CEO Marcus Morgan states that player feedback will be crucial during Grounded 2’s early access phase. As with the first game, development on this new adventure will be carried out in collaboration with the community. Grounded 1 received significant development during its two-year early access period and delivered a remarkably mature experience in its full release. Morgan states that a similar process is envisioned for this new game.

Will Grounded 2 Come to PlayStation and Switch 2?

While no definitive announcements have been made regarding PlayStation and Switch 2 versions, Marcus Morgan’s smile, “Grounded 1 is available on all these platforms,” is seen as a hopeful signal to fans. It’s believed that the Switch 2, in particular, will offer a better performance experience thanks to its more powerful hardware. While the first game experienced some performance issues on the current Switch, the situation is expected to be different in this new generation.

Grounded 2 refines the first game’s basic formula, featuring a larger world, traversable insects, new biomes, and combat systems. This massive new area, Brookhollow Park, offers players ample opportunities for both exploration and combat. These new systems also add depth to the game, promising a longer and richer experience.

Early access begins on July 29th, and first player impressions are expected to be shared on that date. While the possibility of a PlayStation and Switch 2 release has not yet been officially confirmed, the development team’s statements and the first game’s multi-platform success suggest that this anticipation is well-founded.
