Witcher 3 Gets Farewell-Like Update
CD Projekt Red’s legendary game Witcher 3 is getting ready to meet players with a new update, despite the 10 years that have passed since its release. The studio announced a “last patch” to celebrate the game’s 10th anniversary and announced that this update will offer cross-platform mod support for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S users.
Cross-Platform Mod Support Coming to Witcher 3
With the update planned to be released towards the end of the year, players will now be able to experience many popular mods regardless of platform. A significant portion of the mods that have been used on PC for a long time will also be integrated into consoles. Thus, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S players will also have the opportunity to access content offered by the mod community.
However, CD Projekt Red also emphasized that not all mods will work on consoles. Due to content guidelines and selection criteria, some PC mods will not be available on consoles. Console users will also not be able to create their own mods, and will be limited to selected mods. Still, this development will offer the most comprehensive mod access to console players to date.
This announcement comes ahead of claims that Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition will be coming to Nintendo Switch 2. CD Projekt Red’s presence at Summer Games Fest indicates that new details about the Witcher series may be shared. However, the primary focus is expected to be the Cyberpunk version prepared for Switch 2.
It’s still early for Witcher 4. The sequel, whose first trailer was released at The Game Awards last year, is not expected to be released before 2027. Therefore, this latest update for Witcher 3 may be a farewell for fans before a long wait.
