Witcher 4 Responds to GenAI Claims
CD Projekt has shared many important details about Witcher 4. According to the statements made at the company’s recent earnings call, Witcher 4 will not be released before 2027. It was also confirmed that the game will not use artificial intelligence technology GenAI in its development. The company announced that the game will be the beginning of a new trilogy and that the series is aimed to be completed within six years.
Witcher 4 Release Date and Development Process
CD Projekt’s co-CEO Michal Nowakowski stated that Witcher 4 will be released in 2027 at the earliest. The new Witcher games will be developed with Epic Games’ Unreal Engine technology. The company believes that using this technology is more advantageous than using its own engines in the past.

Nowakowski stated that it is possible to complete the trilogy in six years. However, this ambitious goal has already sparked debate in the gaming world. It is a matter of curiosity how realistic this period is, especially considering that Witcher 5 and Witcher 6 will each be developed in three years.
It was emphasized at the meeting that GenAI technology will not be used in the Witcher 4 development process. Nowakowski stated that GenAI is a risky technology due to intellectual property rights and legal issues. Instead, it was stated that the company is looking into developing its own customized artificial intelligence models.
CD Projekt established an internal team in 2024 and began conducting research on artificial intelligence integration. However, the results of this research are not expected to be included in projects in the near future. The company acknowledges that general artificial intelligence has long been used in game development, but new technologies such as GenAI are more complex and controversial.
Considering the release date of Witcher 4, whether the game will be on the next-generation PlayStation and Xbox consoles is also on the agenda. Although there is no definitive information on this subject, the game’s technological infrastructure and release date indicate that it can be designed to suit new consoles.
