Witcher 4 Towns Will Be Huge

Witcher 4 is preparing to impress players with much larger and more realistic settlements than previous games. CD Projekt Red aims to push the boundaries of technology and make cities and towns more lively and crowded. In this way, players will be able to feel like they are in a real medieval city in the new game of the series.

Witcher 4 Towns Grow with New Technology

In Witcher 3, Novigrad was known as one of the largest cities in the North, but due to technical limitations, it could not give the feeling of a truly giant city. However, this situation changes with Witcher 4. CD Projekt Red plans to host hundreds of NPCs even in the smallest towns thanks to new generation technology. Engineering production manager Jan Hermanowicz explained these goals by saying, “We want to make the most of the generation transition. That’s why we are rethinking everything.”

The port town of Valdrest in Kovir drew attention in the recently shared tech demo. Even this town, which is not as big as Novigrad in the game’s universe, is home to more than 300 NPCs. This number offers a density close to the largest city in Witcher 3 in a small town. This situation is interpreted as an indicator of how much detail CD Projekt Red wants to reflect city life in the new game.

The team wants to implement ideas that were wanted to be done in Witcher 3 but could not be implemented due to technical obstacles in Witcher 4. Hermanowicz said, “We looked at what we did in the past. What we were able to achieve, what we could not achieve, we are shaping the new game by analyzing these,” he said. In this way, players will experience a more intense atmosphere and lively interactions in the towns.

Even a small town like Valdrest is rendered in such detail, it is already a matter of curiosity how the big cities in the game will be. The game’s release date is not yet known, but it is not expected to be released before 2027. The Witcher 4 has already created huge anticipation.
