Wolfenstein Series Coming from Amazon
Amazon Prime Video appears determined to bring major gaming brands to the screen. Following the success of Fallout, preparations have begun for a series based on Wolfenstein, known for its classic Nazi-hunting theme. The project is being created by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, who created the Fallout series. Amazon isn’t just focused on this; they’re also adapting blockbusters like Mass Effect and God of War into series form.
Wolfenstein Series Coming with the Fallout Team
Preparations for the Wolfenstein series have officially begun. According to Variety, Kilter Films, which also created Fallout, is producing the series. The project, which will once again star Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, will feature Patrick Somerville, known for his work on projects like Station Eleven and The Leftovers, as the screenwriter. This team, which previously worked with the game’s publisher, Bethesda, is working with direct support from the developer.
Jerk Gustafsson, known for his work at MachineGames, will also serve as executive producer on the series. Gustafsson is known for games like Wolfenstein: Youngblood and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. While no release date or cast has yet been announced, the logline, “The story of Nazi assassination is always relevant,” clearly outlines the series’ tone.
It’s clear Amazon won’t be limited to Wolfenstein alone. Development is also underway for the previously announced Mass Effect series. While script details haven’t been released yet, it’s rumored that the series may remain faithful to the original trilogy. While it’s being developed with a different writing team, it appears it will forge its own path, though it may share a similar aesthetic to Fallout.
Meanwhile, God of War is also on Amazon’s radar. Announced in 2022 and renewed for at least two seasons, this project has gained further prominence following the success of Fallout. Amazon’s plan to build a cohesive gaming universe, similar to The Boys, demonstrates a strategy focused on success. The giants of the gaming world are now playing big on small screens.
