Developed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC, this game aims to showcase Korea’s rich cultural heritage and traditions through an original story blended with magical atmospheres. Leveraging the power of Unreal Engine 5, the game impressively captures the architecture, mythological creatures, and cultural elements of the period, aiming to capture global attention with both its narrative depth and visual quality.

Woochi the Wayfarer: A Fantasy Adventure Set in the Joseon Period

Woochi the Wayfarer follows the struggle of Jeon Woochi, known as the “Wizard of the Road,” as he fights for justice. Inspired by The Tale of Jeon Woochi, a key work of classical Korean literature, the game tells the epic journey of a hero who uses his magical powers to defeat the corrupt and protect the innocent. Developed with Unreal Engine 5, the game offers players a detailed and vivid representation of the Joseon period.

The game will feature creatures inspired by traditional Korean mythology, magical settings, and impressive battle scenes. The single-player narrative invites players to an immersive narrative experience, promising intense gameplay with action and adventure elements. The music is composed by Jung Jae-il, composer of Parasite and Squid Game, who enhances the atmosphere by blending traditional Korean music with a modern orchestra.

The released trailer focuses on an intense confrontation between the mysterious shaman Myoan and Woochi. The first part of the video features ritual scenes set in misty forests, followed by tense moments where the two powerful characters face off. This structure hints at a powerful experience in both its narrative and cinematic presentation.

Nexon Games positions Woochi the Wayfarer not only as a production unique to Korean culture, but as one that appeals to players on a global scale. The LoreVault team is collaborating with experts in Korean literature, music, and history to capture the project’s authentic atmosphere. In order to reflect the Joseon period as realistically as possible, it conducts field studies in cultural areas and transforms these spaces into high-resolution three-dimensional models.
