What is Copilot for Gaming?

Copilot for Gaming is an AI assistant designed to facilitate players’ gaming experiences. The assistant offers features such as providing a story summary when downloading old save files, making game suggestions that suit players’ style, and providing tips in certain games. For example, it can help find missed ore veins while playing Minecraft, or suggest suitable counter-picks against rival characters in Overwatch.

Fatima Kardar, Xbox’s Vice President of Gaming AI, stated that this assistant will come into play when players get stuck: “Gaming is the only form of entertainment where you can get stuck. That’s when you need an assistant.”

Copilot for Gaming will be offered to Xbox Insider Program members in order to collect user feedback at an early stage of the development process. It was stated that the features are not finalized during this process and will be shaped according to player feedback. Xbox plans to integrate this feature to PC with the Play Anywhere initiative.

Development of Copilot for Gaming will continue with the data obtained from early access. Xbox announced that it will share more information about this innovation at the GDC 2025 event. It is currently unclear when exactly the assistant will be available to all users. With this innovation, Microsoft aims to offer players a more personalized experience by integrating artificial intelligence into the game world. The details to be introduced at GDC 2025 will shape the future of this new feature.
